Stan is an investigative reporter, editor, and audio maker from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lately, he has been reporting from Colombia on the relationship between human beings and nature, with support from the Alicia Patterson Fellowship, the McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, and the Earth Journalism Network.
Previously, Stan was one of the founding reporter-producers at Reveal, the weekly, narrative, national public radio show of investigative reporting. In his seven years there, he shaped the show’s sound and systems and made stories that were taught in university classrooms and cited in Congress, inspired changes in law and won numerous awards.
Prior to Reveal, he was a staff reporter at Marketplace, WNYC, and Fast Company; helped launch new shows at Slate, Marketplace, and WNYC; shot, directed, and edited short documentary films; and helped create what is now GCJT.org, an online resource for journalists who cover violence.
